PostSubject: Has anyone applied recently online for early release of super?   Tue 30 Jun 2015, 12:41 pm

First topic message reminder :

Hi

I am in the process of applying for early release and the only way you do it is on line through my gov.  I have looked a lot into what people have been doing and a lot of you talk about the documents that you need to send through about all of your finances.  Online there doesn't seem to be a place to add all of this.  I am just wondering if it is something I should put in a document to add to my application.

Thanks Trish

Hi EmmaLou

Woohoo you got approved, my super was approved between a week and 2 weeks, was so happy it was done quickly.
Unfortunately I couldn't get surgery until the 3rd of Feb but at least I have a date and can start the countdown lol

Good luck, let me know how you go with the Opti fast stage.

I'm excited for you

Omg I'm so excited!!!!

RacyTracy thanks for your advice!!! It helped as DHS has  approved my super!!

Basically I started a draft application for early release of my super on the 8th November. Then I added my dr reports and quote and submitted it on the 24th. I called yesterday and got a lovely lady who processed it for me straight away whilst I was on the phone!!!

My surgery is booked the 19th Dec!!! Yay!!!!! But I'm now having a lap band

How long does it take your super fund to release the funds?

My head is spinning with nerves and excitement!!!

Does anyone else have updates? RacyTracy do u have a date yet?

Hi Rachellew88

I have just been through this if you read the below comments. It took just over a week for DHS to approve me though I did ring up and annoy then every couple of days!
I am now still waiting for my super to approve and put the money in my account, they have had the paperwork for about a week now so I will probably start ringing them up tomorrow and start annoying them!!!

What annoys me is my Clinic that I am getting done at wont book my surgery until I have paid them even though they know I have been approved and also paid $600 towards my bill so I could start my dietician and Phycologist appointments. So I thought I would be done in December but now its looking more like January.

Overall I think you should be fine. Even if you start now getting your stuff ready for your super application you will have a head start!

Good luck with it.

Hi Everyone,

I Saw Dr Karen Quinn last Thursday and Dr Russell Tuesday just gone. I submitted my Release of Super yesterday though the Centrelink website. I hope and Pray to god that they accept my application, as both my Doctors have put that its a life threatening condition and done all the other correct paperwork to support my claim.

Wondering how long it has taken other people to be approved by the DHS? Im hoping to have my surgery done middle of next month.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Here's my current stats:

Consultation weigh in weight: 130.7KGS
Height : 168cms
BMI: 46.1
Age : 27

Talk to you all soon :-)

Hey Becky, yes you have to make sure they put that otherwise they wont accept it, the specialist one should be fine they know the drill but my doctor had no idea so it's easier if you print the form off for them to fill in instead, they just have to tick the box that says life threatening and also the box that says it is not readily available in the public system. They are the 2 main ones.

That's Ok Becky, I have been the same. I think I was pushing it so much as I knew if I thought about it too much I may have changed my mind!!

I dont know if every specialist is the same but when i had my consultation and agreed to do it they gave me a letter which stated their fee then the 2 hospitals they operate at and then I had to ring both of them and get a quote, then it was up to me which one i chose. I have to pay the specialist his fee then I get a bill from the hospital and a separate one also from the anethesist (dont know if I spelt that right lol)

When I knew i was going ahead I got the super form and have had my ID done ready to go so now I just wait for my letter and I can submit it straight away.

It's all a bit of a pain but doable. Compared for what we are signing up for this is the easy part lol

Thanks RacyTacy

Great info!!!!!  Seems I just need to calm down and stop trying to get everything done before its meant to be done LOL.

The quotes from the hospital...  does the Dr do all this or do I have to ring the hospital??

Cheers

PostSubject: Re: Has anyone applied recently online for early release of super?   Wed 11 Nov 2015, 9:51 am

Hi EmmaLou/Becky

I am currently going down this road. First you have your intial consultation and they give you a letter that you need to submit, you also need a similar letter from your referring GP or the medical form online (human services, I think it is M0017) for them to fill out (I had to use this as my doctor didnt word the letter correctly so they didnt accept it!)
Then you apply online through your My Gov account which takes you to the Centrelink website. The actual application is quite quick and easy. You also need all your quotes from the hospital etc which you just upload to the application at the end.

Then the wait starts!!

I was a bit of a pain as I am also trying to get my Op done in December or January so I have been ringing them every couple of days, first to make sure all my application was correct and I had the right documents lodged. I submitted my stuff last Tuesday and after getting a really nice lady today she approved it for me while I waited on hold. I was so happy, I now just have to wait for the letter from them.

You then need to get a form from your Super Fund which they usually can email to you and get that filled out. Again not so bad. You then need the letter from Human Services and your ID which needs to be certified from someone ( I just went to my local post office). Also if you want it deposited into an account instead of a cheque you need to prove that account is yours eg a bank statement.

I am just waiting for my Human Services letter but when I spoke to my Super Fund they did tell me it was only 3-5 days to get my money.

Hope that helps and that is just my experience so far.

Good Luck with it.

Might see you around the Sleevers January Monthly posts!!

Just another thing I just remembered, I did try to claim my Opti fast which I brought ahead hoping I could get my money back on it, plus the initial consultaion fee but they did not approve anything I had already paid for. Also my hospital gave me the option of own room or shared room and I tried to claim the single room amount but she said she couldnt approve that either, so they just approved the shared room price. I am claiming the whole cost of my Op as well.

PostSubject: Super Application   Wed 11 Nov 2015, 9:40 am

Hiya All

Seems to be a bit of confusion..  I started my application on-line tonight.  Haven't had my first consult yet (24th Nov 2015) but Admin at Surgeons suggested I get onto it right away.  She mentions forms for the Dr and my GP to fill out...  I'm wondering if these forms are linked at the end of online app??  I did a search in the forms section of DHS website and found "Early Release of Superannuation Specified Compassionate Grounds Report by Medical or Dental Prac"

http://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/forms/mo017

I can only assume this is the one for the Dr's to fill out.

The On-line application asked me for me and my parters saving and % owned by me.   Little worried as we have a bit of savings but I need the whole amount for the surgery etc as I only have Extra's cover.

Not sure if I should continue through with the application or wait until I get more info at 1st consult???

Any advice  ?

Becky

Hi

I'm new here! Hope this is the right place to ask 😄

I have an appt next week with Dr Nottle as I want to be sleeved.

I'm planning on applying for my super for the whole amount (15,500), I only have 24k in super. Will that matter? As There wouldn't be much after the fees and tax.

I want to get it done on the school holidays will there be enough time to access my super, if I book it for Jan 4th? That's if he is available then lol! Otherwise I'll have to wait until the next school holidays.

Any advice to get quick access to my super by applying online?

I have really bad arthritis (since I was 10, I'm now 29), PCOS, BMI is 35.2 is that enough?

I'm so excited and nervous!

Thanks

Hi All

Do human services have access to your bank accounts, as they do ask how much savings you have?

TIA

Hi Neet

I have done this recently - the forms are hidden under the menu section - under "Personal details update" or words to that effect - scroll through them all and there is a section about early release of super.  It took me ages to find it too..

If you need any other info - let me know..

Also - I had to go into Centrelink for them to site my ID ( I also had no previous connection with them) - so scanning my certified copies of ID wasn't enough - I had to go into a Centrelink office and get them to site it and write on my application - Mind you I had to do this twice as the first time I did it the girl on the desk must not have done it right - so when I left it a week then rang them to enquire they advised they just needed my ID check and they would review my application - so I had to go back and do it again

That email is no longer monitored as it used to be the email to submit claims - now it all has to be done by My Gov

Hope this helps - drop me a PM if you need more

Don't know anything about it but if you look at the e-mail address you have there it probably should be humanservices.gov.au  not humasservices so if you typed humasservices try humanservices

Just a thought

if you do an online application and have signed up for the online letters service from centrelink/medicare etc it makes the process even quicker :-) when approved they upload the letter and you just log in and print it out...no waiting for Australia post! then you can send it to your super company quicker. my application took a little under 3 weeks from lodging the forms online to cash in my bank account, i was really impressed as a friend of mine did the old paper version...she was sleeved 8 weeks before me and didnt get her payment until about a week after i got mine, very long wait for her.

Hi HW1,

Once approved, the department apparently send you a letter saying you are approved by them.

You then need to go to your super fund and request that they release the funds.  I suggest you call your super fund and ask what their process is.  I called mine and they sent a 2 page form that I need to complete once I get the approval letter from the department of human services.  This form asks my bank details so that they can deposit the money.

Good luck, plp

I have sent off form for early supa release about 2 weeks ago but have not heard anything.

When I send the forms off there was no mention of any financial details or bank details required anywhere on the form, all that was needed was the form filled out by the GP and the surgeon  and the quote from the surgeon.

Have I miss something out??

How do you get the money from the supa if they do not have your bank details when you are successful in your release of supa funds ??

Need to find out as time is running out if it is going to take months.

Thanks LOL

lol Hungry21, i think that's almost their purpose in life...to confuse us! hehe!

No, they didn't ask for any bank details or statements.  Mind you, my savings are less than $1000 because we just bought a house and completely emptied our bank accounts in the process :(

Thank you so much you have answered my questions. I spoke to a lady on the phone today and once i got off I was very confused LOL. Did they have access to your bank account as she did say you could have only $1000 in your account. Anything over that they would not approve it. :)

Hi Hungry21,

I recently applied and was successful, online.  Apparently the department of human services have recently merged with Centrelink and they're trialling the new online process.

Thus, the old forms you'll have heard about asking for loads of budget information are no longer required.

All I needed to provide was the total of my savings, the amount in my super fund and medical quotes.  I express posted my doctors letters as I had an issue trying to upload them onto the online site.

The final step in the process (once I applied online), was to go into a Centrelink office to proof my identity. This was a HUGE drama where I went to 3 separate offices on 3 separate occasions. Basically, the first 2 times I didn't specifically state I was there for ID for early release super and the customer service people "coded me" incorrectly.  I got it right in the end though.

I had waited almost 4 weeks and thought I'd call to check up on my application.  That was the other day, when the operator advised I had been full approved and a letter was on its way!  I was so happy!!!

Good luck with it all, it took longer than planned but was definitely worth the fuss...21 days and counting until my op!

plp

PostSubject: Re: Has anyone applied recently online for early release of super?   Mon 31 Aug 2015, 11:00 am

Hi everybody

I have been reading different posts and I am confused. I am online with Human services so can someone tell me if I apply online do I need to send any information about our finances and our monthly in/out  money. I have read a few different posts from 2013,2014 and 2015 and I see in earlier posts people had to send in documents of their monthly spending. I am really confused as when i started my application online all it asked for was the GP and surgeons signed  docs, how much money in your account, your quote and your super balance. In earlier posts people had to send in sighted  identification papers ect. Has this all changed with HS over the last year. Could someone please clarify what they did and what information they downloaded when they applied online.

Thanks in advance :)
